Emanuel Ungaro Spring/Summer 2018

Emanuel Ungaro Spring-Summer 2018

Spring and summer are the seasons where everything comes to life. Well, Ungaro’s new Spring/Summer 2018 collection is all about color, passion and sex appeal. If other designers were oriented towards sending a specific kind of message through their designs and maybe neglected the color for the upcoming season, it was not case here. Color came huge for Ungaro. A lot was expected from the new creative director, the Italian Marco Colagrossi, and he did not disappoint the audience. The show opened with a grey shiny suit, with high-waist and wide-leg trousers. It progresses to shimmery and transparent tops, plastic flowers on trousers, skirts and belts, all the way to miniskirts and deep V-necks on shirts and coats. The whole lineup the house presented was mainly focused on dresses and the good old ‘80es volume of the silhouettes.

The designs were colorful, with floral prints. Embroidery was present on the cocktail dresses, party dresses, skirts, even on coats. The fresh start that this house presented was seen in purple tulip skirts who had blue dots, accessorized with fanny pack with plastic flowers. The ‘80s vibe was transferred on a puff skirts with trains. All of the coloring is well balanced with the other part of the collection where black, gray and white are the most dominating colors. This part of the collection, the calmer one, was made of silk, georgette and other fabrics that appeared well on trousers with large cut and asymmetrical skirts and dresses. The chiffon and organza were used for creating delicate and gentle garments.

The white part of the collection, mostly high-low dresses, was fresh and sweet, showing a cool glam, something that Ungaro is well-known for. The cut was different through the change of designs. On the opening, the looks were mainly tailored with contrast edges, and evolved to softer ones that accent the hip. When in motion, the garments create an amazing bulb around the body and hips and give the silhouette sensuality in movement. As for the prints, the house decided to go big on the polka dots – huge, frequent, colorful. The whole lineup included several sub-collections, all of them presenting the wonderful upcoming spring season. Ungaro’s world of color and flowers is the new affair that the customers are approving!
