Céline Spring 2018 Ready to Wear

Céline 2018 Spring show was held in a cloudlike tent designed by the architect Smiljan Radic, inside the Tennis Club in Paris. The venue was, to say the least, interesting: the guests were arranged in quarters, the benches were covered in sleeping bags, everything looked like a big luxurious camping set, filled with people and outdoor motives. The creative director Phoebe Philo talked about her inspiration for the Spring line. She explained that she has always wanted to be closer to nature and having it influenced more on her work. With this line, her wish came true. There were lots of outdoor components who represented the nature: the white poncho was magnificent and it closed the show, a trench with a long hem fastened around the neck like a cape, elegant tabard dresses in indigo and ivory.

The tent looked like a fashion bubble. Céline has always been a brand that women can rely on and get by in daily life. The soundtrack that run through the entire show “You’re all I need to get by” was a perfect reference to this. The design inside this camping tent looked chic. There was a big man’s west worn over a floral t-shirt, pink pleated skirt longer on the one side and black boots with tassels. The show left a big fashion statement. Philo is known for creating new sharp things, she likes to be joyful and playful and that always leads to good things. The tailoring of the design was mostly men’s.

The outdoor gear was rustic so it was a well addition to the oversized and boxy jackets, cropped shorts and pleated pants. The blue navy trench dress was a total eye-catching. The romantic side was presented through V-neck lace dress and a combo of printed turtleneck and skirt with white fringe. The classical side was shown in a white skirt with printed blue statues. The footwear was divine, like the white and brown nursing sneakers with purple soles, ‘90s booties with squared toes and ‘80s kitten heels. During the show, the audience was already making purchases which tells that the quality and the crafts are valuable and appreciated and that is what made Céline as a brand so strong and incredible.
