Baum und Pferdgarten Spring/Summer 2018

Baum und Pferdgarten Spring - Summer 2018

The Baum and Pferdgarten presentation of the new line was characterized as bright and metallic. Being on the fashion scene since 1999, this brand is one of the Scandinavians best known names. It was focused on the leather texture, a very well identified trend among other Danish designers for the spring/summer 2018 lines. Their choice for this line were the metallic finishes on the leather pieces. The whole show was somehow happy and bubbly. Pink cotton candy packages were delivered all around, the runway was silver metallic, and the front row was fashion amazing – bindis, big shades and Balenciaga sock boots. Everything was in some colorful mode and tone, with a pop dose.

Both designers, Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave lean towards over exaggerating, and this time that was the neon lace and leopard. The central piece seemed to be the pink metallic bomber jacket. The retro-sporty vibe was dominant in that part of the collection, with bold prints and contrasting colors. The sweatshirts and t-shirts had palm trees and flamingo motifs, something that might be seen as a bit contrived. There was not a lack of floral motifs also. From the other prints, stripes were present – always a key trend, season after season.  The collection featured different pieces like short sleeve dress in blue poplin and checks, dark blue jeans with high waist, yellow and pink top, trousers with floral motif.

For those who are more romantic, there was a dress with polka dot print, sheer, with ruffles at the waist. One of the models on the runway wore double breasted wool check coat, with a matching cross-body bag – a total hit among the crowd. These two designers are known for giving their followers exactly what they want. The collection was playful, mix and match type. The clothes they design are always fun, happy, colorful, no matter the environment or the political or cultural situations. For them, this season appears to be all about grandpa cardigans and sheer dresses – the inspiration from the ‘70s L.A. parties and creativity. Whatever they create is fun, easy and feminine. They are and remain to be one of the best established fashion labels on the Copenhagen fashion week.
