Lanvin Resort 2018
After only 16 months of designing and being on the leading designing seat for the oldest living French house, Bouchra Jarrar is leaving Lanvin house with a final collection that is mostly oriented towards a monochrome palette for outfits. The outfits vary from trapeze dresses to her signature masculine inspired suits. Jeanne Lanvin reigned the house for almost 60 years and established a well-respected look. In March 2016, Jarrar was appointed Artistic Director of Women’s Collections and made headlines, as fourth woman to lead the design role.
However, Jarrar reshaped the famous Lanvin silhouette, using her expert tailoring and discreet elegance, but still preserving the label’s famous and iconic Parisian sensibility. She was the perfect choice for this house, known for its timeless style and French elegance. This collection offers decorative touches that include floral fabrics, lace trims and ruffled necklines. This season’s pieces offer variety of fresh color and a print that is pulled out of the archives – the Lanvin blue, the timeless color on the silk trench. The touch of color that Jarrar added, the label’s famous signature blue, was used on a powdery blouse with frills at the neck and wrists. Paired with high-waisted pleated pants in similar shade, it gives a total Parisian look. The pieces from this collection are with precise cut and applied to chic shifts and languid suiting, something that this brand is well-known for.
