Resort Collection 2017 ,the Hottest Styles For Summer
Indian-American New York-based designer Naeem Khan is feeling bold this summer, with an eclectic offering in this year’s Resort collection. From shiny, glittery jumpsuits to a series of traditional full-skirt ball gowns, the women in Khan’s world will have a choice between being playfully daring or classically beautiful.
Red carpet favourite Naeem Khan is well-known for his signature black-tie pieces, which are heavily featured in this collection. Sophisticated, with feminine lace details, Victorian style collars and bright colours such as royal blue, these contrast with the more daring, glittery and modern garments making a bold appearance this summer.
Khan shows his versatility by cleverly designing a number of his signature dresses in both full length and shorter versions, which will undoubtedly attract a young and more mature clientèle. Plunging necklines will no doubt turn some heads this year too, with beautifully fitted lace and embroidered tops, both as part of dresses or stand alone pieces. In terms of patterns, bold, detailed florals take a pride of place, with Khan admitting to be inspired by the botanical world.
Velvet tasseled slippers or ‘babouches’ are decidedly royal in style and at clear odds with the fishnet heeled boots also featured. This is what makes Khan so unique: he is capable of both taking you into a princess-like world, where ball gowns are aplenty, but also invite you to brush shoulders with modern and daring glittery cropped dresses, which is a truly spectacular feat of carefully crafted creativity.
This year’s Resort collection by Italian house Ermanno Scervino manages to be feminine with an edge. With delicate ornaments and fabrics such as lace, silk and chiffon, the Ermanno Scervino woman isn’t afraid to show her feminine side, but there is much more to her (and her stunningly designed clothes) than meets the eye.
Look a little closer and you will find that beauty is, indeed, in the detail. Carefully placed button roses bring a military-style jacket to a whole new level, while an intrinsically brocaded tailored suit mixed with a white lace shirt is suitably boho chic and endearing. The colours are romantic, materials luxuriously soft and with flattering shapes.
The real triumph of this collection is how versatile and breathable the garments are. Much like in previous collections, Ermanno Scervino features lace aplenty, which makes for floaty and ethereal dresses and blouses, perfect for the summer season from Milan (where the designer comes from) to Myanmar. Fitted black culottes are paired with a brocaded jacket featuring the instantly recognizable hand-embroidered cat’s eye and nose, akin to a modern Schiaparelli motif. Leather also gets featured, in the form of a glamorous tan fitted blouse and matching skirt, as well as a number of bag-shaped pendant necklaces. This season’s accessories are well worthy of a mention too. From boho denim tote bags to floral pointed heels and animal print wedges, this summer will be decidedly playful.
