How You Can Create a Tony Awards 2017 Red Carpet Style

Red carpet season is truly upon on us, and here at Jinnie Femme, we love nothing more than admiring the beautiful gowns on the red carpet. If you like to keep a close eye on red carpet fashion, we’ll show you how to recreate some of the best styles from this year’s Tony Awards.

The 71st Annual Tony Awards were held on 11th June at Radio City Music Hall, New York. The awards celebrate achievements in Broadway theatre productions. Here’s how you can create a Tony Awards style inspired by some of the best dressed ladies on the red carpet…

Amanza Smith Brown’s Embroidered Maxi

Amanza Smith-Tony Awards 2017

Right on trend Taye Diggs’ girlfriend Amanza opted for a floaty floor-length A line dress in white contrasted with bold red and green embroidered flowers and a low-cut strappy v neck.

Recreating Amanza’s whimsical floral number should be a breeze, as embroidered fashion is all the rage this season. If you were inspired by Amanza’s style, opt for a white maxi dress with red and green embroidered flowers. Finish the look with natural make up, simple silver earrings, and a slicked back pony so all eyes are on the dress.

You can find beautiful embroidered maxi dresses on ASOS, and if you’re not keen on displaying that much flesh, French Connection offer a delightful alternative with a semi-sheer effect perfect for spring.

Eva Noblezada

Miss Saigon actress Eva Noblezada looked striking in a Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear Jonathan Simkhai dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Annie Costello Brown earrings, and an Anndra Neen clutch. Eva’s embroidered midi dress featured an intricate black and white circle cut-out pattern in guipure lace, with a delicate lace-up V neck.

You can recreate Eva’s Tony Awards look by opting for a detailed, patterned black and white midi dress. Team it with slicked back hair, gold statement earrings, a silver shiny clutch, and patent black strappy high-heeled sandals.

Similar styles are offered by Self-Portrait with their cold shoulder Hinkley Midi Dress, ASOS’ Foxiedox embroidered tiered ruffle midi, and Jonathan Simkhai has a similar lattice guipure Lace dress in black and navy.

Uma Thurman

Uma looked looked effortless at this year’s awards. She rocked a black A line wide pleat maxi skirt and black buttoned shirt, with statement Fred Leighton jewellery.

You can easily recreate this ensemble with a casual pleated black maxi skirt and a thin black belt at the waist. Tuck in a black collared shirt, roll up your sleeves, and complement it with chunky, sparkly necklace and bracelet. Add strappy peep toe heels, a black satin clutch, and a simple hair style to complete the look.

Uma’s keeping her designer under wraps, but Chloé offer a similar pleated black cady maxi skirt. Ateliers Swarovski have chunk jewelled “McHue-y” necklaces in purple and other colours.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett looked chic in a custom Michael Kors Collection white chain blazer and thigh-high slit skirt and a silver Elsie clutch. Scarlett does her own styling, and you can easily recreate her red carpet look—just think chic, retro, and bold.

Scarlet opted for a white suit with black stripes and silver chains, but a plain white suit with a delicate silver necklace would create the same effect. Don an 80s style blazer, a chunky white belt, and a matching skirt with a daring split. To complete the Gangster’s moll effect, add sparkly strappy silver sandals, a boxy silver clutch, and a slick up-do.

Balenciaga offer a similar striped full-length skirt with slit, while LK Bennett have the ideal metallic “Nina” clutch. Ted Baker have the perfect Silaa blazer and pencil skirt combo in white with front split and retro styling.
