We can’t believe how quickly 2016 has gone! It’s been an amazing year of new fashion and make up trends which we’ve loved sharing with you. The end of the year might be near but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t aim to look your best. Wherever you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve you should be dressed up to the nines!
But what should you wear on such a big night? That’s where we come in.
Go Sequin or Go Home
Sequins come and go in fashion but they are a festive season staple. You can go for all over sequin styles or you can get something that is a little more subtle. This year’s sequin styles feature all over sequin dresses that will feel as amazing to wear as they look.
If you’re wearing all over sequins then tan or nude legs will contrast well, we’d recommend keeping your shoes plain as you’ll be wearing a lot of sparkle already! The classic smokey eye and nude lipstick is a hot combination that looks amazing for a festive night out. Aim to keep your jewellery coordinated such as wearing solid pieces that will balance the sequin look.
The metallic trend is hot right now! There are so many exciting and inspirational ways that you can rock this look. The key to dress metallic is to pair with neutral colours and textures. An all over metallic dress in gold will look gorgeous but your accessories will need to compliment it.
When adding jewellery to your outfit you could opt for a choker, or contrast with different coloured metallic. A gold top would look great with a copper or silver necklace, or copper accents on your shoes or handbag.
Mix Up Your Textures
A long sleeved gold top in a rayon style fabric would contrast well with a tulle skirt. If you’re after a more relaxed look that’s good for an office party, pair a gold top with your favourite black trousers. Velvet is a texture that is often associated with the festive period so is also great for tops or skirts.
Dress in the Colour of the Year
Each year Pantone introduce a colour of the year, this year’s shade was ‘Green Lush Meadow’ which is a rather festive colour that will flatter all skin tones. The options for wearing this outfit include body con dresses, skirts, tops etc, there’s many ways you can add this colour into your New Year Party outfit.
What better way of seeing out the year than wearing the colour of the year?
Try a Pop of Colour
If going bold with the metallic or sequins isn’t quite up your street you can always use a pop of colour to make a statement at New Year’s Eve. Take a bold colour such as red which will draw attention. A chunky red necklace or scarf or wrap would make a little black red dress become eye catching. This rule applies to your shoes as well, but you shouldn’t overdo it with all of your accessories.
Gold or silver are lovely accentuating colours which make a bold statement.
Treat yourself like a canvas
One of the most classic ways to style yourself for New Year’s Eve is to wear black and add statement pieces of body jewellery. A jumpsuit or body con dress are fabulous ways to wear a solid colour. Black is not only flattering to your figure, it is classic colour that never fails to in suit whatever occasion you’re going to. Add some much needed sparkle with stand out pieces of jewellery. The larger, the more colourful, the better!
